Easy & Unique Stencil Accent Wall
1. Choose Stencils
Start with getting a stencil design pack that is filled with numbers and letters. Go through the stencils and find letters or numbers that mean something to you. From your initials to the number of people in your household, it's a fun way to add hidden messages in your home.
Step 1 of 9
2. Layout and Trace
It's time to make your master stencil that you'll use for the paint. Take your desired letters and numbers and lay them out on a large piece of cardboard. Each stencil corner should touch and overlap the other corner, leaving a square int the center (see photo for example).
Once you have them laid out correctly, use a pencil to trace the letters and/or numbers on the cardboard. You can duplicate this step if there are other numbers and/or letters you will want on your accent wall. Make 4 master stencils to make the painting process go faster.

3. Cut Out Stencil
Place your stencil on a cutting board. Place the cardboard piece with your traced design on the cutting board. Take an exacto knife and line it up to your traced edges. You will be cutting out the pieces of your pattern. A cutting board should always be used to avoid scratching surfaces in your home.
Step 3 of 9
4. Pop Out Cardboard
Remove the loose pieces of cardboard that you have removed with the exacto knife. The end result of your cardboard should be a clean stencil template.

5. Paint Accent Wall Background Color
Place a drop cloth in front of the accent wall. Using a paintbrush and roller, put 2 coats on your accent wall with the background color you want for this design. You very well may keep the accent wall with the color you currently have and that is fine. Just make sure you wash the wall (soap and water) and dry it before you add your template so the paint is adhering to a clean surface. Patch any holes you have on the wall before adding any paint. For this project, we are giving the background of our accent wall a fresh coat of white paint. Let the background paint dry completely before moving to next step.

6. Tape Up Stencil
Take your stencil design and tape it to the top left of your accent wall. You may want to use a level to make sure you've taped it to the wall in a straight line.
Step 6 of 9
7. Fill Stencil with Paint
Load your mini roller with paint you want to pop in your accent wall. For this example, we're using blue. Roll the paint across the stencil up to 2 times, just make sure there is good coverage on the pattern without drips. Keep the master stencil taped up for 30 minutes before removing.
Step 7 of 9
8. Tape Up Next Stencil
You've made 4 master stencils so you can continue the process of painting the accent wall. Tape the next master stencil right next to one you've just painted.
