How To Make A Charcoal Snake

Ever heard of a charcoal snake? This technique of lining up charcoal briquettes around your kettle grill will help with long cooks on your grill. Watch as Ace's Grilling Expert, Chef Jason, walks you through how to make a charcoal snake. Give it a try on your next cookout!


Steps

  1. Arrange rows of charcoal along perimeter of grill grate
  2. Stack 10-12 briquettes in the chimney
  3. Open bottom vent and ignite lighter cubes
  4. Place chimney over lighter cubes
  5. Add white hot charcoal to end of charcoal snake
  6. Half snakes will burn for 5-6 hours, full snakes burn 10-12
