1. Prep

   • By prepping your space, you will save time and money. Good prep prevents drips, splatters, and mistakes. Clear the walls and move all furniture to the middle of the room. Drape a drop cloth over any fabricated surface or any high traffic walkway. Use painter's tape to tape off any trim, outlets, or areas you do not want to paint.

2. Patch

   • Painting on a smooth sound surface is critical. Spackle over dents, cracks, or holes in the wall. Sand down any unwanted bumps or scrapes to get that nice, even surface. Wipe down the wall with a tact cloth to remove any dust or sand.

3. Prime

   • Priming is the most important step. If you do not prime over a patch, it will absorb color differently than the rest of the wall. Priming not only allows for your color pick to shine properly, but also allows for a longer lasting sheen.

4. Paint

   • Paint a 4" outline around all protruding features and trim. By doing this, it gives you a buffer for when you start to roll the paint on. When using  roller dip the surface into the paint pan. Roller the brush on the dry part of the pan to coat it evenly. Do not over saturate the roller. Roll the paint onto the wall in a zig-zag manor. This spreads the paint evenly and hides stroke marks. Do not roll too fast or paint will splatter.

5. Paint Again

   • When applying your second coat, keep in mind that this process brings out the rich color and sheen of your paint. This is a necessary step.
