Caring for them properly is the key to persevering your investment. Here are some tips to keep them looking great.
Natural stone counters may be rock hard, but they are also porous. Granite, marble, or limestone to name a few. Use PH balanced cleaners for daily cleaning. Harsh chemical cleaners can dull or even etch the surface. Now you can find Ph balanced cleaners that also kill bacteria which is an added benefit.
Seal your counters regularly. For the most part this is a twice a year affair. Natural stone will stain left unchecked from spilled grape juice, wine or coffee. Sealing is as easy as cleaning, then spraying the sealer and wiping it off. This barrier will keep liquids from penetrating the stone. It is not an excuse not to clean things up, but it buys you some time if you went to bed before seeing the ring left from a cup of coffee.
Polish the stone. Retaining the luster of the new stone tops can be accomplished by using a stone polish over the surface. This creates a beautiful bond of shine to the stone and will make the surface look it’s best.
