How To Grow Tomatoes

In A Pot

What To Use

When planting tomatoes in a pot, it is very important to give them room to grow. Use, yes, a REALLY BIG POT. For tomatoes, you can use a 5 gallon bucket or a large decorative pot.

Fill It Up

Fill your pot with potting soil. As you fill, be sure not to pack tightly. Drainage and aeration is the key to growing healthy tomatoes.

Plant Them Deep

Most plants are planted 2-4 inches below the soil. While this is correct, for tomatoes, you will plant them very deep in the soil. Dig a hole in your soil and plant your tomato stalk deep, about 2/3 of the stalk should be in the dirt.

Caring For Them Right

First, your tomato plants need lots of water love. Get a moisture tracker to ensure you are hitting that hydration sweet spot. Secondly, tomatoes love that extra food. Buy some plant food to keep them healthy and happy. Lastly, ensure your tomatoes get 8-10 hours of sunlight a day.

In The Ground
