How To Keep Ticks Away

Protect Your Yard

Ticks do not like anything that will irritate them when walking on it.  Adding a barrier of mulch around your yard is a great way to battle a tick invasion. Keep your lawn cut as any brush only helps them on their journey from yard to yard.   After you've mowed your lawn, apply a bug prevention product like Bug Destroyer. Use a spreader to apply Bug Destroyer to your yard and it can effectively kill over 100 surface bugs and control grubs below ground to prevent lawn damage. Kills by contact and keeps killing for up to three months plus it kills surface bugs at all growth stages, preventing future populations.  Diatomaceous Earth is also a great option for your lawn. It's ready-to-use powder-like insecticide can be applied to cracks and crevices -- places where insects spend most of their time. Once insects come in contact or ingest this dual-action powder, it immediately goes to work to completely kill them within 48 hours. Diatomaceous Earth is a non-staining treatment that has no odor and can be applied in pet areas to kill off a flea and other insect infestations. Be sure to follow complete instructions to safely remove the D.E. before allowing pets back into the area.  Add more protection by spraying bushes, structures and other areas with a tick killer hose spray. One quart covers up to 16,000 sq. ft and lasts up to 8 weeks.

Protect Your Home

Applying a home barrier insect product around the perimeter of your home can help protect your home from ticks creeping inside. Spray the foundation of your home, doors and windows with a home bug prevention can keep additional insects like ants, roaches, spiders, fleas, and other listed insects away. The clear and odorless spray provides up to 12 months of control.

Protect Yourself

When outdoors avoid walking in areas where the pests are found, wear appropriate protective clothing light-colored, long-sleeved shirt and long pants tucked into socks and inspect body daily for ticks. Pant cuffs should be worn inside the socks or footwear to ensure full protection against ticks and chiggers. For protection against ticks including those, which may carry Lyme disease, chiggers and mosquitoes, apply a product like Repel Clothing and Gear. This is made specifically for material. For further protection, use in conjunction with an insect repellent registered for direct application to the skin and utilize the following primary preventive measures.  This unscented spray lasts up to 2 weeks.  Apply it to tents, backpacks, boots and gym shoes and more as this is ideal for the great outdoors lover!  If you are looking for additional added protection, Insect Shield offers built-in, odorless and effective insect repellency clothing.
