Happy Traegering! It’s time for an annual checkup on your favorite cooking tool and we have some helpful tips to keep you well-adjusted and ready to cook for many food adventures ahead.

Tune Up Tips: Starting Top to Bottom

With some proper care, cleaning and maintenance, your Traeger will last for many years and provide you with some great meals.

Start From The Top

  1. Chimney / Chimney Cap / Downdraft Exhaust
  2. Lid Hinges – Lid aligned, screws and nuts tightened
  3. Handle – in good condition, bolts tight
  4. Side Handle – in good condition, bolts tight
  5. Grease Bucket – in good condition, clean and free from leaks
  6. Temperature Probe / Rod – clean and free from buildup or damage
  7. Top Grill Grate – in good condition and free from rust/wear
  8. Bottom Grill Grate – in good condition and free from rust/wear
  9. Drip pan – in good condition and free from stuck on debris, damage or wear
  10. Heat Deflector - in good condition and free from stuck on debris, damage or wear
  11. Fire Pot – in good condition, free from damage and not plugged
    1. Tighten wing nuts on Fire Pot
  12. Auger Tube - in good condition and free from stuck on debris, damage or wear
  13. Grill Barrel – in good condition, free from debris, ash or grease buildup
  14. Grease Channel – free from debris, ash or grease buildup
  15. Grease Drain Tube - free from debris, ash or grease buildup
  16. Pellet Hopper – free from debris or saw dust buildup
  17. Power Cord – in good condition, no breaks or exposed wires
  18. Legs – All Bolts and nuts tight and legs are steady and firm.
  19. Wheels – All Bolts and nuts tight and wheels move freely
  20. Grill Exterior – Clean and free from buildup, debris or wear
