Congratulations! You sold your home and now you just need to get past a few steps with the buyer. Attorney review, financing, and the inspection.
How To Get Your Home Ready For A Home Inspection
Here are some things that may need some attention, so the inspection is a success for all concerned.
The home inspector is not coming over to judge the paint color, the clutter, or the over style of your home they are interested in the nuts and bolts, and you hopefully addressed some of these things prior to putting your home on the market. But here are some smaller fixes that can help avoid the list of repairs needed from being too long.
-
Make sure everything works. Meaning, light switches, outlets, dishwasher, disposal, toilets, furnace, A/C, ceiling fans, door handles, door locks, cabinet doors and drawers, oven, cooktop, microwave, exhaust fans.
-
Anything that operates needs to operate smoothly. If cabinet drawers are sticking free them up using cabinet wax or a light sanding if appropriate.
-
Make sure there is no mildew or mold on walls, ceilings and so on.
-
Tackle any odor issues you may have in a home, in the basement or from pets and so on.
-
Ensure that all windows operate freely, exterior doors open and close, and screens are all repaired.
-
Make sure the electrical panel is labeled and that circuits operate correctly.
-
GFCI outlets in the kitchen and bath should all operate properly.
-
Walkways, the driveway, and decks should all be in good condition.
