We’re taking you for a trip down memory lane with this recipe. Rich tomato flavor with Beef, Pasta, and Cheese. This makes for one delish dish that is sure to be a family favorite.
Dutch Oven Goulash
Adjust the seasoning to meet your needs and try substituting your favorite pasta sauce for the canned tomato sauce. Happy Cooking, Chef Jason!

Yield: 8-10 people
Prep time: 5 Minutes
Cook time: 50-60 minutes cooking time
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Beef, Ground, 80/20 – we used ground chuck
- 1 Tbsp Garlic, Fresh, crushed – or use squeeze tube garlic
- 2-3 Tbsp Italian Herb Seasoning - adjust to taste
- 2-3 Tbsp Soy Saucead – just to taste
- 3-4 cup Beef Stock – or can use water
- 2ea Can, Diced Tomatoes – 14.5 oz Cans
- 2 ½ Jars Pasta or Marinara Sauce – 24 oz Jars
- 2 Cups Pasta, Elbow or Penne – uncooked
- 1 ½ cups Cheese, Mozzarella, Shredded
- ¼ cup Cheese, Parmesanas garnish, if desired
Cooking Notes:
- This can be done on the Traeger or Big Green egg, be sure to tilt the lid off the dutch oven to allow the smoke to pass thru and flavor the beans
- Temps remain the same for Traeger or Big Green Egg
Cooking Directions:
• Light the Big Green Egg and adjust temp to 400˚, setup egg for direct cooking
• Heat a large Dutch oven (8qt or larger) for 10-12 Min

• Cook the ground beef for 5-7 minutes or until 75% cooked
|

• Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute
• Add the Italian herbs and soy sauce and stir to combine
• Add the pasta, sauce, diced tomatoes and beef stock and mix well to combine

|
• Cover the dutch oven with the lid and return heat on the Big Green Egg to 400˚
|
||
|
||
• Simmer for 30 minutes, carefully and slowly remove cover and stir to mix
• Adjust beef stock amount if needed to cook pasta
|
||
• Taste and adjust seasoning as needed
|
|
|
• Replace the lid and let cook for 20-25 minutes or more depending on preference
|
||
• Carefully Remove from the Big Green Egg when finished and rest for 5 minutes
• Open the lid and mix in the mozzarella cheese
• Top with the parmesan Cheese – if desired
|
||
• Enjoy while hot!!
